Description

Glasgow’s newest indie storytellers Elgin and The Marbles launch their debut single The British Museum on September 19 via Last Night From Glasgow’s Cartel imprint – the first glimpse of their forthcoming concept album The Sun Never Sets (due 6th March 2026).

A biting, witty and sharply-observed five-verse chronicle, The British Museum tackles the legacy of empire and colonialism through the sardonic eyes of a curator. Blending social satire with a soaring melodic hook, the track sets the tone for an album that explores the turbulence of modern Britain with humour, tenderness and bite.

Frontman Callum Baird – a Glasgow-based songwriter and former editor of The National, now editor-in-chief of a major Scottish publishing group that includes The Herald – draws on his years reporting from the frontline of politics.
