The two most important stations on any journey are the point of embarkation and the destination. The same is true of music. The two single most important aspects are the moment of departure from the mind of the artist, and the moment of arrival in the ear of the listener.
Unlike a train journey, the landscape that surrounds this passage should be as invisible as possible. Transparency is absolutely key.
... and so we depart ...
Our job is to provide the best possible platform: the most accomplished and empathetic engineers and producers, and the very best manufacturing technicians. We believe that in the eight (nine) songs presented here, we have achieved that to a degree unmatched elsewhere in our catalogue. Our partnership with Beetroot Studios has produced, sonically, the finest albums we have ever released. There is absolutely no doubt that Seabass Vinyl are the UK’s premier pressing plant. We can think of no better journey than one shaped by the efforts of Stuart, Paul, Dave, and Dominique.
... and then we arrive ...
Everything said above applies equally to a hi-fi system - although in reverse. From the finest cartridge (the ear of the system) to the finest loudspeaker (The voice) the defining characteristic is transparency. You should never hear your hi-fi—you should only hear the music. That is why the best amplifiers have no “loudness” button. Why on earth should you need to turn up the bass on a record?
Nothing frustrates me more than seeing someone spend hundreds and hundreds of pounds on records, only to take them home and play them on a system bought from a high-street catalogue shop. It is simply not possible to enjoy records when they are played on a suitcase turntable.
Loud & Clear have been my hi-fi dealer of choice for most of my adult life. I bought my first piece of “grown-up” equipment from Ian in around 1990, and since then they have supported every transition along the way. Over the last couple of years, we have run a number of events giving artists the opportunity to truly hear the precision in their recordings. Everything said above applies equally to hi-fi. From the finest cartridge to the finest loudspeaker, the defining characteristic is transparency. You should never hear your hi-fi—you should only hear the music. That is why the best amplifiers have no “loudness” button. Why on earth should you need to turn up the bass on a record?
