The Skids are a Scottish punk and new wave band, formed in Dunfermline in 1977 and led by frontman Richard Jobson. They released their debut album Scared To Dance in 1979 to critical acclaim which was followed by album Days In Europa later that year. Both albums have been reissued on vinyl by Last Night From Glasgow and are available to purchase now. In 1980, the line up shifted and the group released their third and most successful album The Absolute Game. The Skids final album before they dissolved was Joy, released in 1981. The band have reunited several times to tour and to work on different projects including 2018 album Burning Cities and 2019 acoustic album Peaceful Times.
The Skids brand album of brand new material Destination Düsseldorf was released by Last Night From Glasgow in June 2023. The album has received great response from critics and fans alike and reached No.1 in the Scottish Album Charts, No. 2 in the UK Indie Charts and No.4 in the UK Vinyl Charts.
"This new album follows in the footsteps of Days In Europa as a celebration of friendship and shared experiences. The cover shows the brilliant Jospeh Beuys striding towards us from his base in Düsseldorf full of confidence and optimism believing that we can do the right thing for the people and the landscapes that surround us." - Richard Jobson, The Skids
