Hunting High and Low is the debut album by Norwegian band A-ha and features the hits Take on Me and The Sun Always Shines on TV. Released on 1 June 1985 by Warner Bros. Records, the album was a huge commercial success selling more than 11 million. Hunting High and Low demonstrates a creative and complex approach to writing synth-pop music. Many of the artists of the 80’s had the catchy keyboard melodies, the electronic drums and the memorable choruses, but their music lacked any real back bone. A-ha’s music consists of the same poppy trends but also contains multiple layers of synthesizers. Each synthesizer has a different setting, and this creates a chaotic, almost orchestral effect.
