In the early 1980s, while Scottish pop was getting brighter and shinier, Glasgow was home to a bunch of misfits who were kicking up a storm. James King & the Lonewolves released just four singles in their original incarnation: Back From The Dead and I Tried/So Alone (Virgin/Cuba Libre, 1981), Texas Lullaby (Thrush Records, 1983) and The Angels Know (Swamplands, 1985). They also recorded an album with John Cale, which sadly never saw the light of day as the band split up.
Fast forward to 2011, a reconstituted Lonewolves play a memorial show for former agent Alan Mawn, prompting them to return to the studio. Their 'Pretty Blue Eyes' EP was released in May 2013. Having hooked up with Edinburgh’s Stereogram Recordings in 2014, that fantastic, long-lost album Lost Songs of the Confederacy, finally saw the light of day, entirely re-recorded, with new material, to unanimous praise.
Their second album The Mortality Arcade was released in May 2024 with Last Night From Glasgow and Stereogram Recordings.
