Tulsaqueen is the solo music project of Catriona Munro of the bands Dorothy Hale and Curdle. Curdle released their debut album on Double A Side Records in 2019, becoming mainstays of the Glasgow Indie scene, headlining many gigs and providing support to international touring acts such as The Thurston Moore Group, Brix Smith and many more.
Tulsaqueen's music mixes elements of country music and dreamy pop, with influences from Gram Parsons and Emmylou Harris, Trio, The Ronettes, The Bangles and Lucinda Williams.
In 2022 Tulsaqueen's album was released on Double A Side Records. For her first album multi-instrumentalist Catriona played 99% of the instruments, playing guitar, bass, organ, piano and autoharp.
For live Tulsaqueen shows Catriona plays with a full band of backing musicians, who share her love of all things country. She has recently performed with touring artists including the legendary Giant Sand.
October will be released digitally by LNFG Cartel on 25.10.24 with the Red Vinyl album following shortly thereafter in November
"Half an hour spent in Tulsaqueen's world is a captivatingly bewitching experience, both comforting and disturbing at the same time, but like the glamouring of a vampire, the music of Tulsaqueen will quickly have you spellbound and consumed by its beguiling beauty...have your soul consumed by these enchanting sirenic songs."
