We receive emails every day from artists telling us how much they love LNFG, what we’re doing, and how much they’d love to be part of the label, and (the most common questions) “How do I get signed to LNFG?”.

The answer starts with understanding who we are and, more importantly, how we work.

LNFG is a patron-funded record label. Our label is supported by a community of members who believe in what we do and help us discover, develop and support artists.

So, if you’re interested in becoming part of LNFG, the first step is simple: get to know us.

Think of it like preparing for a job interview. You wouldn’t walk into an interview without researching the company, understanding its values and knowing what the role involves. You’d want to understand where you could contribute and how your skills could help the organisation grow.

The same applies here.

So, where do you start?

  1. Understand the label
Find out who we are, what we stand for and how LNFG operates.
  2. Become a member
As a patron-funded label, our members are at the heart of everything we do. Supporting the label is one of the clearest ways to show that you believe in what we’re building.
  3. Come to our events
Experience LNFG for yourself. Meet the artists, the team and the people who make up our community.
  4. Support our artists
Listen to them, follow them, buy their records and come to their shows. If you want to be part of the LNFG family, get to know the family.
  5. Buy records from our website and physical shop Music From Big Blue
Physical music and direct support make a real difference to independent artists and labels.
  6. Build your own audience
Work hard on your socials, create great content and, most importantly, build an engaged fanbase that genuinely cares about your music.
  7. Play shows and keep working
Develop your live performance, release music, grow your audience and keep pushing yourself creatively.

None of this is about ticking boxes or trying to impress us. It’s about demonstrating that you understand what LNFG is, what we do for artists, and why you believe you would be a good fit for the label.

There’s a simple test we sometimes think about:

If you’re wearing a band T-shirt, can you name three songs by that band?

It’s the same principle here.

Can you name three artists on our roster? Have you listened to their records? Have you bought an album? Have you been to see them live?

At LNFG, we’re trying to create something that goes beyond a traditional record label. We think of our community as a family. Our members are the people who help support and nurture the label, giving us the opportunity to develop new artists and help existing ones grow.

Our gigs are a bit like family gatherings. Our artists, members and supporters become friends, collaborators and, yes, sometimes feel a little like cousins.

We don’t always get everything right, but we always try to do the right thing by the people who are part of our community — supporting each other, helping each other and creating opportunities for artists to flourish.

So, before asking whether LNFG will invest thousands of in a campaign for you, ask yourself a different question:

What can I bring to this family?

Get involved. Come to the shows. Support the artists. Become part of the community. Build your audience. Make great music.

And if, along the way, we discover that we can help each other grow, then perhaps there’s the beginning of something very special.
